 The VA Illiana Health Care System (HCS) is seeking to fill a full-time mid-level provider position at our Danville, Illinois location. The incumbent will be working in the Mental Health  Service. VA Illiana HCS promotes a collaborative atmosphere where providers work with a dedicated team of allied health care professionals.

 The VA Illiana Health Care System (HCS) is seeking to fill a full-time mid-level provider position at our Danville, Illinois location. The incumbent will be working in the Mental Health  Service. VA Illiana HCS promotes a collaborative atmosphere where providers work with a dedicated team of allied health care professionals.

The mid-level's primary assignment is to provide mental health services to OEF/OIF/OND Veterans in Mental Health Clinic by seeing mental health consults . Will provide mental health assessments and management; will provide same day access to Mental Health, crisis intervention, history and physicals as needed and follow up care. Also provides outpatient coverage to other Veterans in need of Mental Health care as well as coverage to mental health patients on acute mental health inpatient locked unit.

NURSE PRACTITIONER QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS - Candidates must meet all regulatory requirements for Nurse Practitioners per VA Handbook 5005/27, Part II, and Appendix G6, dated March 17, 2009 as listed below:   

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Citizenship   Citizen of the United States.

 

Education   Nurse Practitioners must possess a master's degree from a program accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE.

 

License and Registration   A nurse practitioner must be licensed or otherwise recognized as a nurse practitioner in a State.   License must be c urrent, full and unrestricted.

 

Certification   Nurse Practitioners must maintain full and current certification as a nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body.   [ The certification must be in the specialty to which the individual is being appointed or selected.]

 

Physical Standards   A pre-placement physical examination is required per VA Directive and Handbook 5019.

English Language Proficiency   Nurse Practitioners appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d).

 

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSCandidates must meet all regulatory requirements for Physician Assistants per VA Handbook 5005, Part II, and Appendix G8, dated April 15, 2002 as listed below:   

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Citizenship   Citizen of the United States.  

 

Education or Training The candidate must meet one of the following:

 

     (1)   A bachelor's degree from a PA training program which is certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA); or

 

     (2)   Graduation from a PA training program of at least 12 months duration which is certified by the ARC-PA and a bachelor's degree in a health care occupation or a health-related science; or

 

     (3)   Graduation from a PA training program of at least 12 months duration which is certified by the ARC-PA and a period of progressively responsible health care experience such as an independent duty medical corpsman, licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, medical technologist, or medical technician.   The duration of approved academic training and health care experience must total at least 5 years.

 

Certification   As of   March 12, 1993, certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA) is a requirement for employment.
