This position is located in the Office of Women's Health (OWH), Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), in Washington, DC.

Incumbent serves as an expert and leads the development and coordination of a broad range of programs addressing women and girls' health matters and initiatives. Responsible for the development of programs and policies that support the vision and mission of the Office of Women's Health (OWH) and the goals and objectives of the OWH Strategic Plan. Makes recommendations affecting major initiatives and programs administered by the Division. Represents OWH before professional consumer, and governmental organizations.  Coordinates and facilities conferences and workshops on women and girls' health issues by participating in discussions with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that women and girls' health perspective is considered and incorporated, if appropriate. Assist with the preparation of briefing documents, controlled correspondence, evaluation reports, and the review of other document related to women and girls' health. Develops budgets, tasks, and staffing plans for proposed and existing programs and monitors/oversees program progress and budget expenditures.

Basic Qualification Requirements:


Have at least a bachelor's degree with major study in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position from an accredited college and/or university. 

Additional Qualification Requirements: In addition to meeting the Basic Qualification Requirements candidates must also:

Have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, providing expert advice, guidance, and support on a wide range of major women and girls' health matters and initiatives (i.e., pregnancy, fitness and nutrition, aging, mental health, illnesses and disabilities, violence against women); making recommendations affecting initiatives and programs; developing budgets, tasks, and staffing plans for proposed and exisiting programs and monitoring/overseeing program progress and expenditures.

Foreign Education:  If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.  For further information, visit:
