This is a temporary summer intern program appointment that begins at the end of the Spring term and concludes on or before 9/30/2012. Starting dates are negotiated with hiring officials and appointments usually end around Labor Day. It does not confer all of the benefits usually associated with the competitive service such as tenure, transfer privileges, and health and life insurance benefits. However, the selectee will be entitled to sick leave and vacation time.

This position is located in the Compliance and Enforcement Division of the National Organic Program within the Agricultural Marketing Service.  The National Organic Program (NOP) carries out activities relating to the development, implementation, and administration of the NOP regulations in accordance with the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990 (OFPA).


The incumbent serves as an Agricultural Marketing Clerk, responsible for reviewing website and product labels to check for compliance with the regulations, conducting general research for the Division, assisting with file management duties, and conducting other activities as assigned.

    • Review website and product labels to check for compliance with organic labeling regulations
    • Conducting general internet research for the Division
    • Assist with file management duties
    • Perform other clerical and administrative activities for the Division and for NOP as a whole
