Extended Care and Rehabilitation Service Line, Community Living Center(CLC) , is recruiting for 2 RN, Positions.

NOTE:   Assignment to other areas of the service line or medical center may be required.   While the RN reports to the CLC Nurse Managers and works in collaboration with his/her assigned team, assignments may be made to other areas for purposes of cross coverage.

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide nursing care to patients in the CLC setting.
  • Provide nursing care in other patient care areas, as assigned.
  • Excellent clinical and customer service skills.
  • Function and work in a safe manner, to include but not limited to, infection control and operation of equipment.
  • Patient safety, confidentiality, and good customer service is paramount in all care provided.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate skill/knowledge/ability to perform treatments, procedures and utilize equipment appropriate to assigned duties.
  • Self motivation and ability to function independently as well as a member of the team.

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, Rotation in shifts will be required, Days or Nights will be required. Weekends and Holidays will be required.  Flexibility in tours and days of week will be required.  

As a Staff Nurse you will provide prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to ill and injured veterans.  Duties include documenting observations, assessments, and changes in patient's condition; collaborating with health team members to facilitate positive patient care outcomes; providing a full range of nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavior problems; and accountable for meeting and maintaining the qualification standards and functional statements of assigned grade.  Our facility is seeking individuals who possess good organizational skills which enable completion of work, a demonstrated ability to assume leadership in a patient centered program, and the ability to establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team.

  • Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Graduate of a School of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies:  The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
  • Possess and maintain a current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia.  In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.  
  • English Language Proficiency.  RNs appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).

Applicant's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected.   Experience as a RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing: Practice, Professional Development, Collaboration and Scientific Inquiry. Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core competencies for VHA Nursing Personnel. The criteria are as follows: Practice: practice, ethics and resource utilization, Professional Development: performance, education/career development, Collaboration; collaboration, collegiality, Scientific Inquiry: quality of care, research.
