WHO MAY APPLY:
- Graduating high-school seniors who will continue their education in the fall of 2012
- Students enrolled in any of the following educational programs:
- Vocational/Technical Degree
- Associate's Degree
- Bachelor's Degree

This is a temporary summer intern program appointment that begins at the end of the Spring term and concludes on or before 9/30/2012. Starting dates are negotiated with hiring officials and appointments usually end around Labor Day. It does not confer all of the benefits usually associated with the competitive service such as tenure, transfer privileges, and health and life insurance benefits. However, the selectee will be entitled to sick leave and vacation time.

The duties described are for the GS-4. At GS-3 grade level, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.
The duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Performs a variety of duties specific to the marketing and communications functions of the organization
- Provides backup to other clerical support by performing typing and clerical duties
- Receives, organizes, files, and distributes correspondence, records, reports, and other material
- Prepares and types a variety of correspondence related to the area of work
- Initiates various documents used in connection with work performed

To qualify, you MUST meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
Applicants can qualify by meeting the EDUCATION requirements specified below and/or the GENERAL EXPERIENCE requirements.
GS-3: 1 full year completed beyond the high school level.
GS-4: 2 full years completed beyond the high school level.

You are qualifying for this position based on a combination of experience and education.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-3/4 GRADE LEVELS Applicants must have one year of general experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the next lower level in the Federal Service. This experience may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors.
Examples of qualifying experience include, but are not limited to:
- Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-3/4 GRADE LEVEL: Applicants may have combinations of successfully completed education and general experience to meet total qualification requirements. Desired Major/Course Work College students or high school graduates accepted by an accredited college or university who are returning to classes in the fall of 2012.
Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered with the Selective Service
DD214 (Member 4 Copy) or other veterans' documents required to receive veterans' preference.
