This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), Office of Communication, Education and Radiation Programs, Staff College in Rockville, MD.

If selected for this position, you will:

Provide consultative services and advice on a variety of matters involving the Center's education, training and employee development programs;

Advise the managers and their staffs, in the planning, development, presentation, and evaluation of complex education and training programs and systems; 

Produce validated instructional programs according to the specifications of the instructional strategy for solving a defined training problem; 

Produce instructional components, such as computer-based instruction; 

Assist in the identification of innovative approaches to instructional design by creating and testing new techniques for analysis of needs and development of instructional strategies to improve effectiveness of Center staff;

Employ creativity, initiative and resourcefulness in determining the appropriate instructional medium to be used giving consideration to the use of the product and the audience to which it will be presented; 

Evaluate training policies, procedures, curricula, instructional methods and techniques, quality of instruction, adequacy and utilization of training aids and devices, facilities and equipment.

Individual Occupational Requirement:

Specialized Experience: Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction.

GS-12:

One year of specialized experience that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled which may include experience utilizing principles and techniques of performance problem analysis and instructional systems design to identify performance problems caused by a lack of skill or knowledge; develop instructional strategies to address identified problems and develop instructional materials consistent with the instructional strategy.

GS-13:

One year of specialized experience that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled which may include experience serving as an advisor in the planning, development, presentation, and evaluation of complex education and training programs and systems, including the identification of innovative approaches to instructional design by creating and testing new techniques of analysis of needs and development of instructional strategies to improve effectiveness of staff and public health workers.

Conditions of Employment:
