The incumbent serves as a Pharmacy Technician for chemotherapy and sterile products at the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center in Pharmacy Services. The incumbent applies knowledge of pharmacy practices, VA regulations, and hospital procedures. Judgment and skill are used to complete technical functions of chemotherapy and non-hazardous medication compounding. The incumbent will perform duties in the IV room that will involve setting up sterile products for dispensing, making appropriate records entries and reviewing IV administration records. This position requires the candidate to be certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board and maintains their National Pharmacy Technician Recertification. Extensive and recent experience with chemotherapy admixture is highly preferred. Major duties include, but are not limited to:
