THIS IS A BARGAINING UNIT POSITION.
As a Veterans Service Representative (VSR) you will work on veterans benefits claims and provide comprehensive services to America's Veterans and their families. The incumbent may be promoted to the full performance level (GS-10) without further competition after meeting time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements. Upon attaining the GS-10 grade level, the incumbent will be required to take the VSR Skills Certification test.
The Veterans Service Representative (VSR) explains benefit programs and entitlement criteria, conducts interviews, identifies issues, gathers relevant evidence, adjudicates claims, and inputs data necessary to generate the award and notification letter to the veteran describing the decision and the reason for it. As a VSR you will:

TIME IN GRADE:
To be eligible for appointment under the Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) applicants must submit a non-award SF-50 from Veterans Affairs demonstrating that you currently hold a GS-10 position or have held a higher grade.
Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, etc.
No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Requirements:
To be eligible for consideration under CTAP, you must be a current Veterans Affairs employee who has received an official notice stating that your position is no longer needed, or that you will be separated by reduction in force (RIF). You must meet all of the following requirements for consideration of this position:
1. You have an official notice from the VA saying that your position is no longer needed (surplus employee) or that you will be a displaced employee separated by reduction in force (RIF). You must attach a copy of that notice to your application.
2. You have a current performance rating of at least "fully successful." You must attach a copy of your most recent performance appraisal to your application.
3. You occupy a position in the same local commuting area of the vacancy. You must attach your most recent non-award SF-50 to your application
4. You hold or have held the target grade of this position or higher (GS-10). You must attach an SF-50 showing that you hold a GS-10 or higher to support this.
5. You are "well qualified" for the job. In order to be determined to be well-qualified for the job, applicants must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they have comprehensive knowledge of and skill in conducting adjudications and issuing decisions for the most complex and sensitive claims, such as claims for PTSD, sexual trauma, secondary service-connection, Global War On Terrorism claims, and claims for unemployability and appointment cases.
