MAJOR DUTIES: INTELLIGENCE SPECIALIST
· Performs assigned operational intelligence research and analysis and trends and based on thorough understanding of the significance of conditions and trends, develops and projects data and draws meaningful conclusions and clear estimates based on current and past intelligence situations.
· Provides Force Protection (FP) intelligence support to commanders and their staffs through current, all source intelligence products and briefings, focusing on terrorist capabilities, tactics, trends, courses of action and ongoing threat situation in the unit's area of interest.
· Serves as the unit authority on all aspects of internal intelligence training. Works with the Intelligence senior ART/program manager in planning and organizing an intelligence program that provides timely and accurate operational intelligence support and fully trained intelligence personnel during peacetime and contingency operations. Provides guidance and assistance to unit and Gaining Command Intelligence specialists and serves to coordinate on projects jointly undertaken by the unit, Gaining Command, and other organizations. Commits personnel and unit intelligence resources to missions and special exercises, including coordinating with outside agencies, under the general direction of supervisor.
· Participates with the intelligence program manager in the establishment and management of the unit intelligence mobility program. Develops scenarios for unit training missions. Creates and updates Threat of the Day files for mission planning study for peacetime and contingency operations. Provides recommendations to the Unit Mobility Officer with intelligence information concerning the deployment location and advises on special security requirements for deploying sensitive material and equipment.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel Systems (DCIPS) position implemented under Section 504, Title V of Public Law 99-569, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1987, as codified in Sec 1601, Chap 83 of Title 10 United States Code which sets forth Air Force policies and procedures for DCIPS. This position is in the Excepted Service.
DoD Components with DCIPS positions apply Veterans' Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 USC, in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement.
