This position is located at MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO MARINA . Candidates selected for this position will serve as a SAILING INSTRUCTOR for MCCS. This is a seasonal position that is not to exceed 30 September 2017. This position may be noncompetitively converted to a non-seasonal status billet and/or to a regular employment category

Plan an instructional curriculum to teach basic sailing to authorized adult and/or youth patrons. Instructional curriculum will include both classroom and hands on sailing instruction. Procures and organizes instructional material via proper procurement channels.
Incumbent works directly for the Marina Manager, Recreation Business Activities. Coordinate with Marina Manager on dates, times and schedule of classes. Implement and carry out prepared classroom and hands on lesson plans and training given by management. Provide documentation of attendance and satisfactory completion of course work by patrons through maintenance of class rosters and submission of class rosters to marina manager.
Ready boats, lifejackets and other equipment in preparation for hands on training portion of class sessions. Provides check out rides to patrons in sail boats at completion of training sessions. Recommend patrons to the marina manager for issuance of a Marine Corps Combat Development Command sailing card. Provide instructions on safety to patrons and enforces safety regulations. Work under the supervision of the marina manager.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned/required.
EVALUATIONS:
Three years experience as a sailing instructor or a related field is required. Must have excellent swimming ability. Red Cross Sailing Instructor Certification preferred. A combination of training and experience may be substituted for above experience requirement. National and state background checks are required for positions that involve working with youth programs. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance is required, while performing normal duties in the area.
