This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 7, at the Columbia VA Medical Center (CVAMC), Columbia, SC. The CVAMC is a Level 1c facility and consists of a main Medical Center in Columbia, SC and seven Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). The CVAMC contains a 112-bed general medical and surgical hospital with an active Ambulatory Care Program, a 94-bed Geriatric and Extended Care Rehabilitation Unit, and a 20-bed Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit. The CVAMC provides treatment to more than 81,000 unique patients and over 1,000,000 outpatient visits in fiscal year 2016.

The Associate Director serves as an assistant to the Medical Center Director of the CVAMC in the coordination and direction of administrative activities of the Medical Center and reports directly to the Medical Center Director. The Associate Director may assume the role of the acting Director in his or her absence. The Associate Director is a full member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) in conjunction with the Director, Chief of Staff (COS), Associate Director/Patient Care Service (AD/PCS), and Assistant Director. The incumbent collaborates with the COS and AD/PCS in the formulation, supervision, and integration of administrative activities inherent in the professional services and research of the Medical Center.
