Child and Youth Programs (CYP) are responsible for providing safe, happy and nurturing care for children. Navy Child and Youth Programs provide high quality educational and recreational programs for children and youth. Teams of caring, knowledgeable professionals plan developmentally appropriate programs that are responsive to the unique needs, abilities, and interests of children. Our staff fosters a sense of independence, trust, and responsibility within each child through understanding and respectful interactions. Likewise, through positive relationships, our programs respect and support the ideals, cultures, and values of families in their task of nurturing children and youth. We are advocates for children, families, and the child and youth professionals within our programs and surrounding communities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides assistance in the oversight of activities and necessary services to authorized patrons, including general information the use of facilities and equipment. Ensures adherence to regulations and safety procedures and may assist assigned personnel line the monitoring of change funds, theater tickets, etc. May assist in maintain routine reports and/or perform clerical and/or general maintenance duties as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Incumbent must be 14 to 18 years of age and MUST still be enrolled in middle/high school. Must be able to learn FR/MWR/CYP policies, rules and regulations involving work areas, and have the ability to communicate orally and in writing. Knowledge of basic mathematics and the purpose of recreational equipment and activities desired. Incumbents who may be assigned to the aquatics areas are required to be certified as a lifeguard and must have basic First Aid and CPR Certification. Must be authorized user of the Youth Center (Dependents of Active Duty, DoD Civilian, or Contractor)
For positions requiring travel more than twice per year, selectee may be required to obtain and maintain in good standing a Government-issued Travel Card for official government travel purposes.
