The Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System (OCVAHCS) consists of a 192-operating bed facility located in central Oklahoma serving forty-eight Oklahoma Counties and two counties in north central Texas (Wilbarger and Wichita) with a Veteran population of over 225,000. The OCVAHCS includes Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) in Ada, Altus, Ardmore, Blackwell, Enid, Lawton, Oklahoma City, Stillwater, and Wichita Falls.
The OCVAHCS is a tertiary care facility, classified as a Clinical Referral Level III facility (VA complexity level rating of 1a). The OCVAHCS is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research. Comprehensive health care is provided through primary care, tertiary care, and long-term care in areas of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics, and extended care. The Associate Director is responsible to the Director for the direction and coordination of all administrative activities in the medical center. This includes planning and collaborating with the Chief of Staff and Associate Chief of Staff for Research in the formulation and supervision of administrative activities inherent in all programs. The Associate Director assumes day-to-day administration of the medical center and has full authority to operate the medical center programs in health delivery within the policies of the Director and the agency. This encompasses authority to change internal procedures, workflow, sequence of operations and allocation of space, funds, and personnel necessary to produce needed or improved services. The Associate Director is responsible for ensuring continuity of medical center operations due to demands on the Director's time from the Health Sciences Center, local community, Federal community, and Department of Medicine and Surgery.
