This is an Internship position in the Pathways Program. This program provides students in high schools, colleges, trade schools, and other qualifying educational institutions with paid opportunities to work and explore Federal careers while completing their education. Interns without not-to-exceed dates who successfully complete the program may be converted to a term or permanent position in the competitive service without further competition.

The incumbent performs varied but relatively routine and limited assignments pertaining to the scientific missions of the organization. Assignments typically are screened to eliminate difficult or unusual problems. the incumbent will select appropriate meathods and procedures for assignments bases on previous assignments or instructions. Assists staff, project officers, analytical staff, and other staff as necessary. Perform conventional and simple regulatory and compliance work, to include:
Analyze and summarize a variety of invironmental program information data for use in preparing reports and program evaluations.
Perform science studies of a standard nature on regulatory and compliance issues and problems.
Prepare initial recommendation for solutions to be reviewed by higher graded staff.
Assists staff in preparations of materials for, and participation in, briefing managers.
If you are selected, the entire period served under the Internship Program will be a trial period.
This position is designated as Low Risk and requires a background investigation. Unless an appropriate background investigation is already on record with the Office of Personnel Management, you must undergo a background investigation.
