The primary purpose of this position is to manage deployment and logistical assets to ensure productive and effective utilization of materiel funding and requirements for all Security Forces tasks and responsibilities.

In order to meet the minimum qualifications for this SECURITY SPECIALIST (UNIT DEPLOYMENT MANAGER) position, you must meet the following criteria.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
All Series GS-0080 personnel must be certified at the next higher level before being eligible for that level. Each applicant must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career level, as cited on page two. Applicants must have the experiences, education, or training that demonstrates the ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have least 12 months experience in the security career field, to include technical training schools and drill-status working experience. Security Forces and Intelligence training experiences are not required for individuals performing Chief of information Protection duties/responsibilities; Security Officer duties/responsibilities; or, Special Security Representative duties/responsibilities.
Experienced in directing, obtaining, maintaining, or providing for proper usage of Security Forces equipment in order to meet unit objectives. Experiences included the tracking of operational and performance data on tools and equipment to provide feedback for appropriate activity. Experienced in the procedures for repairing tools and equipment and processed timely calibration of equipment. Experienced in performing liaison duties with US Army, Air Force, and other federal agencies to ensure proper acquisition, use, and maintenance of major equipment items required to support the unit. Experienced in developing plans for the use of physical security equipment that ensured the most efficient and economical combination of manpower and equipment. Competent in implementing Department of Defense, US Army, or US Air Force policies and plans. Experienced in coordinating and monitoring short and long term equipment requirements. Skilled in proper training on various types of security equipment in regards to operation, care, and maintenance. Experiences involved reviewing and analyzing equipment utilization and failure rates, repair and replacement costs, and technological advancements.
Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of the KSA's listed below. Written response to each KSA will ensure that specialized experience criteria is recognized and credited.
1. Knowledge of logistics management principles, organizational theory, and techniques of analysis and evaluation.
2. Knowledge of standardized logistics practices and procedures to conduct studies to identify, analyze, and recommend solutions to problems in structure, staffing, procedures, work processes or workload distribution.
3. Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of program related issues and problems.
4. Knowledge of supply regulations and directives sufficient to establish organizational logistics management policies and procedures.
5. Knowledge of required logistical actions sufficient to develop and maintain training support and deployment plans.
6. Knowledge of local supply and SF requirements to ensure support for materials.
7. Knowledge of the operational aspects of the organization sufficient to advise senior leadership of actions necessary to sustain or improve the logistical posture of the organization.
8. Knowledge of logistics accountability sufficient to monitor, review, and inspect logistical requests, receipts, and pending transactions in accordance with command supply and maintenance discipline programs. Knowledge of one or more automated supply databases to retrieve, review, and analyze logistical data on an ad-hoc basis or through recurring and specialized reports.
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidates will be required to be in a compatible military grade and assignment prior to the effective date of placement.

Length of service or experience will only be used when there is a clear relationship with quality of performance or when necessary to break ties when all other ratings are equal.
Following the determination of basic eligibility of the candidates as outlined in DMNA PAM 690-4, Chapter 5, qualified applicants will be referred to the selection official in the following sequence:
1. Category I: All excepted service technicians in the New York Army National Guard for Army technician vacancies and all excepted service technicians in the New York Air National Guard for Air technician vacancies, working at the location specified in the job announcement where the vacancy exists.
2. Category II: All currently employed excepted service technicians in either the New York Army or New York Air National Guard.
3. Category III: Qualified members of the New York National Guard (Army or Air), to include AGR personnel and temporary and Indefinite technicians, or other individuals who are willing to become members of the New York Army or Air National Guard.
