This position is for students accepted for enrollment or are currently enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in an accredited high school, technical or vocational school, 2-year or 4-year college or university, graduate or professional school, on a full- or half-time basis (as defined by the academic institution in which the student is enrolled).
This is a career development, excepted service appointment under the BLM Pathways Internship Program that is expected to last more than 1 year. The BLM will require the selected applicant to complete a Participant Agreement in which the selectee must provide an anticipated date for completing all degree program requirements, and show continual progression toward meeting the stated anticipated date.
The agency may noncompetitively convert a Career/Indefinite Intern who is a U.S. citizen to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service, as long as the Intern meets all agency program requirements and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for the target occupational series at the time of completing all education requirements.

This position will serve as a developmental trainee Outdoor Recreation Planner and will perform the following duties on a developmental basis:
- Perform a variety of standardized outdoor recreation planning tasks such as collect data from surveys and inventories, maintain databases, monitor and inspect recreation facilities and concession contracts, process fees and permits, and perform routine visitor contact.
-Review recreation program policies, gather facts for inclusion in local environmental and project planning documents.
- Assist higher level specialists and planners with designated portions of monitoring and/or inventory studies and surveys. Enter, manipulate, update and maintain data in automated systems according to established standards.
- Prepare and/or compile charts, graphs, and reports.
You must possess a valid state driver's license at the time of appointment and at all times during your appointment in this position.

May require completion of a 1 year trial period.
If the position is filled at the lower grade level, subsequent promotion to the next higher grade level per the target full performance is permissible without further competition. Eligibility for noncompetitive conversion does not guarantee entitlement to a term, permanent career-seasonal or permanent full-time appointment placement. The permanent duty location upon possible conversion will be based on the availability of vacancies and at the discretion of management. Other possible duty locations and conversion opportunities may be considered within the 120-day conversion period. If the Intern is not converted within 120-days of completion of educational program, he/she is subject to termination.
