SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS: A background security investigation will be required for all new hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicants successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Must exert heavy physical effort in doing such tasks such as frequently lifting and moving objects weighing over 50 pounds, running asphalt cutter on grades, compacting tempers on soft dirt material and uneven flat or sloped ground surface, pushing heavily loaded wheelbarrow loads of wet concrete, and other required heavy duty tools.
WORK CONDITIONS: Work is performed in all types of weather. Summer temperatures can be exceeding hot. The laborer must exercise proper judgment in avoiding sun stroke, heat exhaustion, dehydration, and other conditions associated with extreme high temperatures. Winter temperatures are frigid. Windy weather stirs up plenty of dust and creates plenty of noise. Strict adherence to safety regulations must be observed during performance of all duties to avoid serious injury. The laborer is subject to excessive noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes from gasoline and diesel exhausts.
MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATION: Regularly operate government vehicles or equipment to perform the duties of the position.
TELEWORK INDICATOR: The Bureau of Indian Affairs has determined that the duties of this position are not suitable for telework under any circumstances.
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C, and will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope and quality of all experience and training.
