The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is an independent office within the Department of Agriculture whose mission is to ensure economy, efficiency, and integrity in the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) programs and operations through the successful execution of audits, investigations, and reviews. The OIG conducts investigations, audits, and reviews to prevent and detect waste, fraud, and mismanagement of USDA programs and operations.
This position serves as an IT Specialist (INFOSEC), providing program, technical, and administrative support to the IT Division and the OIG. The incumbent serves as a senior-level member of the division, supporting day-to-day and ad-hoc operational requirements of the OIG network and server infrastructure.

The IT Specialist (INFOSEC) will perform the following duties:

Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
Specialized Experience for GS-11: Applicants must have one year of experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 in the Federal or private sectors, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement, which includes assisting in the development of IT security-related policy, standards, plans, and processes; administering and maintaining a virtualized environment and desktop infrastructure to be able to assist in the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of virtual servers; assisting with network upgrades and maintenance to perform required updates of the operating system or firmware code; and providing guidance and recommendations to other IT Specialists and direct supervisor on emergent technology, potential threats, and possible changes that involve improving business operations.
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience:
GS-11: A Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree, or at least 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
