The incumbent serves as Supervisory Clinical Psychologist (Vet Center Director) on the multidisciplinary team that is located in a community-based Vet Center that provides Veterans with community outreach, counseling, therapy, treatment and direct services and referral to VA and community resources and provides community education regarding the problems and needs of the Veteran. The counseling and therapeutic services provided by the Vet Center range from routine to complex and include suicide prevention, crisis intervention. short- and long-term treatment with clients exhibiting Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), other psychiatric disorders and/or readjustment problems. Clients encountered and problems exhibited necessitates a variety of psychological, rehabilitation, social work, counseling and mental health techniques including but not limited to, individual, group, conjoint, vocational, educational, substance abuse and readjustment counseling. The Supervisory Clinical Psychologist's (Vet Center Director) major duties include but are not limited to: Provides clinical and administrative leadership, management and supervision of all Vet Center staff and to plan develop, implement, coordinate, monitor and evaluate all treatment services of the Vet Center. Performs administrative and personnel management function relative to staff supervised. The incumbent provides psychodiagnostic testing and psychological assessment to those clients in the outreach program who display severe or unusual psychological or neuropsychological disturbances. Evaluates all industrial and state disability claims. Reviews and supervises clinical intakes on all assignments among counseling staff. The incumbent supervises weekly case conference at which problems of client assessment, treatment, and follow-up are presented. Provides direct clinical supervision to the Vet Center staff in its provision of outreach, readjustment counseling, and referral services.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with some evening hours required

Possess a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). Completed a professional psychology internship training program that has been accredited by APA. Exceptions: (1) new VHA psychology internship programs that are in the process of applying for APA accreditation are acceptable in fulfillment of the internship requirement, provided that such programs were sanctioned by the VHA Central Office Program Director for Psychology and the VHA Central Office of Academic Affiliations at the time that the individual was an intern and (2) VHA facilities who offered full one-year pre-doctoral internships prior to PL 96-151 (pre-1979) are considered to be acceptable in fulfillment of the internship requirement.You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
