Psychiatrists are able to perform and teach all of the services required in the practice of psychiatry to psychiatry residents. Educational experiences are also provided to appropriate health care personnel who seek training in mental health services (e.g. medical students, psychology and social work interns, physician assistant and nursing students, and nonpsychiatry medical residents). Major duties include:
This psychiatrist shares clinical responsibilities for management of inpatient and outpatient Veterans with a multidisciplinary team consisting of other psychiatrists and/or psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychologists, mental health social workers, physician assistans, and mental health nurses. The psychiatrist is responsible and accountable to the Associate Chief of Staff, Behavioral Health Service Line who gives general guidance. The psychiatrist works closely with colleagues to provide comprehensive, state of the art outpatient mental health care and the implementation of principles of Advanced Clinical Access in mental health. The psychiatrist will provide consultation and direct care for outpatients manifesting a wide variety of psychiatric and psychosocial problems. The psychiatrist provides initial and ongoing assessment of new patients, including diagnosis, medication management and treatment plans.

Physical Requirements: Ability to bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs. Emotional and mental stability.
Basic Requirements:
Preferred Experience: Board Certifications (highly preferred).
