About the Position:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) New England District is responsible for managing the Corps' civil work and military program responsibilities in a 66,000-square-mile region encompassing the six New England states east of the Lake Champlain drainage basin. The region has 6,100 miles of coastline, 171
harbors with Corps improvements, 13 deep draft commercial waterways, 13 major river basins, and thousands of miles of rivers and streams. The District employs about 500 professional civilian employees, several military officers serving in key management positions. Seventy-five percent of the staff stationed
at Concord, Mass. headquarters while the others serve at Corps project and area offices throughout the region.
This is a Temporary appointment for 120 days with Activity option to extend up to a maximum of 1 additional year (24 months of total service).

Duties include but not limited to a high level of interaction with park visitors and contractors; enforce (Title 36 - Parks, Forests, and Public Property) Rules and Regulations; maintenance of recreation area facilities and dam structures; natural resource management activities such as trail inspections and maintenance, wildlife habitat creation and boundary work; safety inspections; security, etc. Tour of duty normally includes weekend, holidays, and evenings. Oversight is provided by higher graded permanent staff.

To qualify for the GS-05 grade level: applicants must have completed at least four years of education above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with 24 semester hours of related course work such as - natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. (NOTE: You MUST submit a copy of your college transcripts.)
Combining Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and Specialized experience may be used to meet experience requirements. Compute your total qualifying Specialized experience percentage and add your education percentage. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts with application).
