The selectees for these positions serve as a Student Trainee (Financial Management Analyst) in the Comptroller Department, of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC), Division, Keyport in Keyport, WA. As a Student Trainee (Financial Management), they will be performing developmental assignments to gain basic knowledge of the organization and familiarity with the financial field, budget functions, accounting, and financial management. Trainees will assist higher level specialists with formulation of budgets and estimates to support plans, programs, and activities; reviewing budget requests; or reporting of obligations and expenditures. Performing limited analytical studies; researching guides to locate accounting, budgetary or financial information to prepare summaries for use by higher level analysts. The program is an excellent opportunity for college students to get an interesting, real-world experience in the field of financial management while contributing to the defense of our nation.

As a Student Trainee (Financial Management Analyst), your duties may include, but are not limited to:
Performing limited analytical studies to develop knowledge of financial management programs, policies, and methods;
Researching guides to locate accounting, budgetary, and financial information to prepare summaries for higher level analysts;
Preparing preliminary budget estimates or financial reviews for program support activities;
Performing specialized managerial or administrative work with accounting systems, analytical forecasting, or interpretive functions under the guidance of higher-level analysts;

REQUIREMENTS:

This is a Financial Management Level (I) certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. PROGRAM COMPLETION AND CONVERSION:
Interns may be converted to a permanent position (or, in some limited circumstances, to a term position lasting 1-4 years) within 120 days of successful completion of the program.

o Complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program
o Complete their degree or certificate requirements
