The Pharmacy Supervisor Night provides first-line supervision to pharmacists, residents, technicians, students, and volunteers assigned to the pharmacy. The incumbent will assure compliance with all VA and TJC requirements for the appropriate monitoring, dispensing, and distribution of all medications. The Pharmacy Supervisor Night will function as the Associate Chief, Pharmacy Operations or Chief, Pharmacy Service when so assigned. The Pharmacy Supervisor Night will support all supervisory activities in all sections of pharmacy including outpatient, inpatient, procurement/controlled substances and clinical specialties. All clinical pharmacist duties will be part of the position including the interpretation and verification of physicians' orders, patient education, profile review (allergy, drug interaction screens, etc.), supervising the technicians in the dispensing of appropriate medications, providing drug and policy information to patients and medical center staff, and participation in educational programs within the service and medical center. The position requires the interpretation, application of, and adherence to all policies and procedures of the medical center and pharmacy service. Duties will include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
Work Schedule:
Duty hours primarily include, but are not limited to, 8:00 PM - 8:00AM and 9:00 PM - 8:00AM. All other rotating shifts to include days, evenings, and weekends may be assigned if deemed necessary based on the needs of the service.

Basic Requirements:
For the GS-13, candidates must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or have successfully completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency.
Selected candidate must demonstrate the following KSAs:
1. Ability to effectively supervise subordinate staff.
2. Ability to communicate orally and in writing to persuade and influence clinical and management decisions.
3. Expert understanding of regulatory and quality standards pertaining to pharmacy.
4. Skill in managing people or programs.Note: Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment.
