As a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (Computed Tomography) you will be operating a milti-detector helical scanner (MDCT), with an associated automatic injector system and 3-D workstation. You will also be performing a variety of diagnostic radiographic and fluoriscopic examinations which range in complexity from routince to moderately complex. You will be actively involved in all phases of work flow within the Imaging Service- from the receipt of requests for service through the final generation of imaging reports. You will also be rotating with other DRT -CT qualified technologists on a weekly rotational basis between CT and Diagnostic X-Ray.

Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

Basic Requirements:

Grade Determinations:
At least 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level directly related to the position being filled that demonstrates the clinical competencies described at that level. The next lower grade level is GS-8 DRT (Full performance level). Employees at this grade level (GS-8) serve as staff DRTs at the full performance level. Candidates at this grade level are to be qualified to provide services in specialized areas of radiologic technology and/or general radiologic technology services. To be qualified at the GS-9 level the candidate must demonstrate the following technical KSAs and demonstrate the potential to acquire the assignment-specific KSAs designated by a hyphen (-).
1. *Ability to balance the needs of patients and staff while still performing complex scans and procedures;
2. Skill to demonstrate appropriate techniques to gather relevant information from the medical record, significant others, and health care providers;
3. *Ability to assess factors that may contraindicate the procedure;
4. Knowledge of basic first aid and basic life support practices related to radiography;
5.Knowledge of physical assessment, aseptic techniques, intravenous methods and techniques and universal precautions; and
6. Knowledge of pre-procedural, procedural, and
post-procedural care of patients.
