Air Reserve Technicians (ARTs) are part of the regular civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain active membership in an Air Force Reserve unit so long as they occupy ART positions. As members of reserve units, ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. In addition, they are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Force Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.

The primary purpose of this Air Reserve Technician (ART) Enlisted position is to serve as the Plans and Integration branch supervisor providing technical development of assigned work and management of the wing's readiness/deployment programs. To train reservist in the duties and responsibilities set forth herein.
Some of the duties are as follows:
- Plans, organizes and manages the day-to-day activities of the Plans and Integration function at base level.
- Exercises supervisory and/or personnel management responsibilities less than 25% of the time for one to two subordinates personnel.
- Represents the Plan and Integration flight with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
- Performs logistics deliberate and adaptive planning processes.
- Principle advisor to senior leadership on plans and integrations issues.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Position may or will require incumbent to: (1) Incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force reserve military requirements. (2) Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties: however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. (3) May be required to work uncommon tour of duty. (4) Must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance. (5) May be required to fly in military and/or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty (TDY) assignments. (6) This is a drug testing designated position; the incumbent is subject to random drug testing for drug use.
You must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or qualifying pay band under other pay sysems in the Federal service that has given you particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the position. Typically this experience would involve performing logistics planning processes such as deployment, readiness, employment and logistics command and control processes. (To be creditable, specialized experience must meet the above quality level requirements).
The following knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) are needed for this position:
(1) Knowledge of a wide-range logistics management operations in supply and transportation policies, practices and techniques. (2) Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices and procedures. (3) Ability to plan, organizes, and directs the functions and mentor, motivate, and apprise the staff of an organization. (4) Ability to identify, analyze, and translate complex information, makes appropriate judgments, and evaluates options concerning cargo movement and material management. (5) Ability to plan, organize, and direct a small sized organization. (6) Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Substitution of Education for Experience: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M, if related, in a relevant field of study (e.g., Logistics Management, History, Public Administration, any Science degree, Mathematics, Business). Education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) necessary to perform the duties of the position.
