This announcement establishes a standing register of eligible applicants to be considered for permanent full-time appointments. The first list of eligible applicants will be pulled for referral on 11:59 PM (EST) March 3, 2017 and then again every Friday at 11:59 PM (EST) until the closing date of Friday, April 28, 2017. The selected candidate will function as a Staff Dentist, providing a full range of general practice procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective, restorative, or preventive measures. This individual will be responsible for performing duties to include, but not limited to the following:
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light lifting and carrying of less than 15 pounds, reaching above shoulder, use of hands and fingers, working alone and working closely with others, hearing aid permitted.
Basic Requirements:
a. Citizenship. Citizen of the United States. (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g, this part.)
b. Education. Degree of doctor of dental surgery or dental medicine resulting from a course of education in dentistry. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: United States and Canadian schools of dentistry listed by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), in the list published for the year in which the course of study was completed. Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e. Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure provided the licensure requirements include a written examination measuring science achievement and a performance examination measuring clinical competence.
c. Licensure and Registration. Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States or in the District of Columbia. The Physician must maintain a current registration to continue employment with the VA
d. English Language Proficiency. Physicians, including residents, appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).

National board certification by American Board of Prosthodontics
