This description is not intended to cover every aspect of the duties and responsibilities of the position. The incumbent serves as a Readjustment Counseling Therapist at the Vet Center located at the Greenville, South Carolina community-based centerthat provides veterans with community outreach, counseling, therapy, treatment and direct service and referral to VA and community resources.
Work Schedule: Irregular Tour (will include Irregular hours; tour is 11:30 to 8:00PM, 3 days a week).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Most of the work is sedentary, however mobility is necessary so that the therapist can travel to surrounding areas, attend meetings at various locations, and make himself/herself available for contacts in the community. The ability to drive a care is required. The incumbent must be able to work irregular hours, including evenings. The incumbent observes normal safety precautions while working in the Vet Center. The day-to-day counseling of veterans with complex psychological problems may be highly stressful.

Basic Requirements:
· Degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate for this position OR
· Combination of education and experience OR
· Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. 1 year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal Government. This experience must have demonstrated broad knowledge of readjustment counseling and superior skill and judgment in professional practice.
Time-in-grade: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS- 9 level. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service.
