Current students enrolled in accredited educational institutions from high school to graduate level. Includes internships, pathways and other student programs.
• Analyzes facts related to assigned information disclosure requests; resolves problems or issues to effectively dispose of information disclosure requests, referring unusual or unprecedented situations to a higher graded employee as needed.
• Interacts with internal and external customers, including attorneys, GAO management and staff, the public, and other federal agencies, and provides oral and written information to them.
• Maintains an automated system to log, track, and manage and close cases and redact content.
• Identify resolutions and/or alternative course(s) of action to management where there are one or more solutions from which to choose.
• Independently responds to most requests, maintains related statistical information, and periodically reports on the status of requests. Controversial requests are reviewed with management who provides necessary guidance.
• Researches established regulatory precedents, points of law, statutory authorities, and agency regulations pertaining to information requests. Reviews requested documents to determine if information is releasable or must be denied under one or more exemption authorities.
• Keeps abreast of recent developments in the Government Information field of disclosure including recent court and department decisions, current legislative resolutions or problems encountered within the FOIA program.
