The Housekeeping Aide performs a full range of cleaning and sanitation work through-out the hospital, following general instructions on work to be done.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
· Wall washing
· Interior and exterior window cleaning
· Room cleaning
· Floor care (dusting, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming)
· Cleaning fans, blinds, shades, screens, mirrors, doors, and partitions
· Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, toilet bowls, urinals, showers, tubs, elevators, stairwells, entrances, lobbies, porches, and hallways
· Dusting furnishings in administrative and non-housekeeping areas

Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: The position requires performance of work which involves light physical effort, such as that involved in using vacuum cleaners and dry mops; continually standing, bending, stooping and reaching; frequently lifting and emptying waste baskets; frequently pushing carts loaded with waste; and lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds. Also performs work which involves moderate to heavy physical effort, such as required to move heavy equipment and furniture, i.e., heavy industrial vacuum cleaners, heavy duty floor scrubbers and buffers, couches, beds, etc., and lifting, carrying and/or moving items weighing up to 40-50 pounds.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Heavy lifting, 45 pounds and over; Moderate carrying, 15-44 pounds; Pushing; Reaching above shoulder; Use of fingers; Walking; Standing; Kneeling; Repeated bending; Near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; Hearing without aid.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Dust; Solvents (degreasing agents); Grease and oils; Slippery or uneven walking surfaces; Working around machinery with moving parts; Working on ladders or scaffolding; Working with hands in water; Working closely with others.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Usually works indoors in areas which normally have adequate heat, light, and ventilation's. Will be exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions used in stripping floors, etc., as well as subject to cuts and bruises. Continually exposed to dust, dirt, and disagreeable odors, and is frequently exposed to organic material which may be contaminated and/or infectious and require special handling.

Your background must demonstrate experience in a variety of cleaning duties, such as sweeping, mopping, and waxing floors; cleaning surfaces such as light fixtures, venetian blinds, and counter-tops; and cleaning restroom facilities including toilets, baths, and sinks.
