The Minneapolis VA Health Care System (MVAHCS), affiliated with the University of
Minnesota, is seeking a BC/BE rheumatologist to join a group of 2 full-time and two part-time rheumatologists and two Nurse Practitioners. Duties include attending outpatient clinics, supervising two nurse practitioners, inpatient consultation, and teaching University of Minnesota rheumatology fellows, internal medicine residents and medical students. Rheumatology staff also supervise inpatient general internal medicine house staff teams for 4 weeks of the year. Educational, clinical and basic science research opportunities are available. Personal evaluations that demonstrate the applicant's experience, skill and dedication to supervising, teaching and training fellows, internal medicine residents and medical students is a requirement. A strong commitment to developing a research focus with the goal of obtaining funding to support the research activities is an important prerequisite. Specific research training, successful collaborations and publication track record is necessary for selection to this position. MVAMC provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care and serves as a tertiary referral center for VISN 23 and other medical centers across the country.
