Positions in this series involve piloting or co-piloting aircraft to carry out various operational programs and functions of the Army National Guard. The positions perform staff work concerned with planning, analyzing, or administering agency specific aviation programs, where the work requires primarily the application of pilot knowledge and skills.
This intent of this position is to develop a pilot within the AASF for future assignment as an MTP, TACOPS, or Instructor Pilot supporting the HH-60M. Pilot will function as a full mission Pilot in Command in support of state and federal missions and training flights.
Additional Duties Include:
Manage Additional Flight Training Period (AFTP) program.
Audit and provide reports on AFTP utilization, entitlement and total program execution.
Coordinate joint training exercises with civilian agencies.
Manage the AASF physical security and key control programs.
Conducts physical security inspections.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have full professional knowledge of aircraft operations programs, Federal Aviation Administration policies, training, flight certification programs, guiding principles, and techniques. Must be a Pilot in Command in an Army aircraft, must be qualified in H-60M. Optimal candidate will additionally hold qualification as one of the following: MTP, TACOPS Officer, Instructor Pilot.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
GS-12 Army National Guard Officer and Warrant Officer Positions: Must have at least two years specialized competencies in operating a specific main-frame military aircraft, mission planning, and mission preparation. Experienced in reviewing and analyzing mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information. Experienced in filing flight plans and conducting crew briefings. Experienced in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments. Experienced in performing or supervising work procedures involved in navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue operations or surveillance and reconnaissance. Competent in conducting or supervising the training of crew members in simple to complex mission specific tasks. Experienced in developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders.
EDUCATION:
An applicant's educational-degree study program, military professional and technical training schools or academies, and aviation certifications may apply as substitutions for some specialized experience factors.
GS12 - Army National Guard Warrant Officer Positions: Must have a high school diploma or general education development (GED) diploma. An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is optimum. Must have Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs or must have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
GS-12 - Army National Guard Officer Positions: For Army National Guard Second and First Lieutenants must be actively pursuing an under-graduate degree with at least 90 validated credit hours in a specified program. For Captains and above, must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university. A Graduate Degree from an accredited civilian academic college or from an equivalent professional military education school is optimum. Must have Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs OR must have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
