Home to over 15 tenant commands, NSA Monterey MWR (NSAM MWR) provides primary support to the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), Navy Research Lab (NRL), and the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC). NPS is the largest producer of advanced graduate degrees for the Department of Defense and proudly graduates thousands every year from all services and from over 50 countries. NRL provides all scientific and weather modeling as well as atmospheric and aerosol studies. FNMOC provides the highest quality, most relevant and timely worldwide Meteorology and Oceanography support to U.S. and coalition forces from FNMOC’s 24x7 Operations Center in Monterey.

Receives request and processes reservations. Ensure guest is authorized to use the facilities. Records and enters all reservations into the property management system if rooms are available. Provide a certificate of non-availability (CNA) and/or alternative lodging in the area. Uses property management system to check-in guests, assign rooms, checkout guests and record charges/payments. Responsible for the accountability of all room keys required for daily operation and submits inventory report. Receives and is accountable for a change fund. Provides information on local places of interest, the installation and local area. Answers phones and handles questions and/or transfers calls to appropriate individuals. Keeps the front desk area clean and neat in appearance. Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality. Logs trouble calls and ensures appropriate department is notified. Creates daily, monthly and annual occupancy reports. Prepares payment activity report for new business day and notates delinquent accounts. Performs credit card batch settlement, prepares credit card report and deposits for business office, performs computer generated night audit. Opens new business day. Verifies charges for correctness, making appropriate changes as needed. Prepares registration packets for next day arrives. Prepares building reports for maintenance department. Backs up files on key card machine. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Must be proficient with word processing and spreadsheet software. Must be able to type by touch with speed and accuracy. Must be people oriented and have an excellent sense of public and customer relations. A courteous, tactful and diplomatic demeanor is paramount. Must be a High School graduate or equivalent. Must favorably pass a background check.
Must have 1 year of customer service experience and must have the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Must have the ability to use initiative, discretion and independent judgment in making decisions. Experience is required in an office environment with progressive responsibilities or related education.
