The Supervisor, Radiography has the overall responsibility for the coordination and performance of all exams performed in the Radiology section of Imaging Services. Additionally, the incumbent performs the duties of a department timekeeper. The incumbent works closely with the Imaging Supervisor and staff Radiologists to ensure optimum quality control, efficient coordination of activities, high quality diagnostic exam results, and patient satisfaction. Also works closely with technologists, radiologists, clinicians and clerical staff to assure optimum quality control, efficient coordination of activities, high quality diagnostic/therapeutic exam results and patient satisfaction within the Imaging Services.
Duties also include the following:
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm or 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
Functional Statement Title/#: Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, Radiology (R).
Physical Requirements:Heavy Lifting (45 lbs and over); Heavy Carrying (45 lbs and over); Use of fingers; Standing (up to 4 hours); Repeated bending (up to 2 hour); Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; Near vision correctable at 13" to 16"; Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other Both eyes required Good vision in one eye and ability to w/o strain, printed material the size of typewritten, glasses ok; Hearing (aid permitted).
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Citizenship: Citizen of the United States.
Certification: All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R). Advanced ARRT certification is required for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
Experience and Education: Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate's degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), and certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiology.
English Language Proficiency: Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, part II, chapter 3, section A, paragraph3J.
Specialized Assignment Requirements:The objective of the examinations and procedures is to produce radiographic studies that are used in medical diagnosis and interpreted by medical officers to locate injuries, foreign bodies, pathological conditions, or lesions within the body. They prepare and administer contrast media and medications in accordance with State and Federal regulations.This subspecialty requires advanced ARRT certification.
Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements listed above, the candidate must meet the following grade requirements:
GS-11: At least one (1) year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) directly related to the position being filled that demonstrate the clinical competencies at that level.
