This position is located in the Physical Therapy Department within the Rehabilitation Care Line (RCL) of the VA Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH which is a Complexity Level 1b facility as defined by the 2014 VHA Facility Complexity Report. The Physical Therapist (PT) who works at this level provides assessment and treatment intervention on an independent basis across the continuum of care and services provided by the Care Line. This position supports the Georgetown Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) Program, providing PT services within the home as part of a multi-disciplinary team, but may also support RCL goals and objectives throughout the continuum of care. This position supports Medical Center, community based outpatient clinic (CBOC), home based primary care (HBPC), and community living center (CLC) referrals. This position may also serve in the capacity of Residency Faculty (RF) depending upon specialty experience for the Cincinnati VA medical Center and University of Cincinnati Post Professional Residency Program in Geriatric Physical Therapy developed in partnership with the VA Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA).
Work Schedule: Day shift; Monday-Friday
Physical Requirements:Heavy lifting, 45 pounds and over; use of fingers, both hands required; reaching above shoulder; walking (8 hours); standing (8 hours); both legs required (1 prosthetic); far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; ability to distinguish basic colors; ability to distinguish shades of color; hearing (aid permitted), and mental and emotional stability.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate from a degree program in physical therapy from an approved college or
university approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The CAPTE is the only accreditation agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to accredit entry-level physical therapy programs.
Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in a State,
Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
PTs must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by VA Handbook 5005, Part II, chapter 3, Section A, paragraph 3j.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

EXPERIENCE FOR THE GS-9 GRADE LEVEL:
Education, Experience and Licensure. In addition to meeting the basic requirements, candidates must have 1 year of post degree progressively responsible experience equivalent to the next lower grade or a master's degree in physical therapy or a directly related field. In addition, candidates must fully demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAOs) identified for the assignment. (You must submit a transcript to receive credit for this education).
EXPERIENCE FOR THE GS-11 GRADE LEVEL:
Education, Experience, and Licensure. In addition to meeting the basic requirements, completion of 1 year of progressively complex experience and a broader scope of experience equivalent to the next lower grade; or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a doctoral degree; or doctoral degree in physical therapy or a directly related field. In addition to meeting the KSAOs described at the GS-9 level, the candidate must fully demonstrate the KSAOs identified for the assignment. You will be rated on the following Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other characteristics (KSAOs) for this position:
GS-9 Grade Level:
1. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, physics, kinesiology, psychology, pathophysiology and surgical procedures as they relate to human function.

3. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, with patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare professions.

2. Ability to interpret clinician prescriptions and referrals.
