of the Army Pathways Interns may be converted to a permanent position
within 120 days of successful completion of the program.
This intern position is designed to prepare a student trainee for employment after graduation as a Mechanical OR Electrical Engineer, GS-0830 or GS-850-05 or -07. Interns will be assigned to one or more higher graded engineers who will assign tasks designed to increase familiarity with the target occupation, in a real world work environment.

The selectee will be highly encouraged to work during the school year on a part time basis. Upon completion of the semester, will then work full time during the summer. Upon completion of summer, will then go back to working part time schedule if at all possible.
To meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-03 level, applicants must successfully COMPLETED 1 academic year (30 semester hours/45 quarter hours) of post high school education in a field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite AND I am enrolled/or accepted for enrollment for at least a half- time course load at an accredited institution of higher education. To meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-04 level, applicants must have successfully COMPLETED 2 academic years (60 semester hours/90 quarter hours) of post high school education in a field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite AND I am enrolled for at least a half-time course load at an accredited institution of higher education. Complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program Complete their degree or certificate requirements.

Meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the Participant's Agreement, and; Perform their job successfully as documented through performance evaluations and/or completion of an Individual Development Plan (IDP).

The Department of the Army Pathways Internship Program is designed to provide students currently enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work and get paid while exploring federal careers through a job with the Department of Army.
Ideally, management would like the selectees to be able to attend school AND work part time. That of course is not mandatory. Ultimately, selectees will be responsible for moving expenses and acquiring housing in the general area of Pomeroy, WA, where the position is located by the entrance on duty date.
