The following list of duties is not conclusive but provides a brief snapshot of the duties that may be required for this position: A copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resources Office.
Responsible for the accurate interpretation of numerous manufacturer drawings, specifications, operating instructions, and test procedures, to troubleshoot, calibrate, align and repair a variety of highly complex pieces of powered support equipment. This includes identifying, repairing or replacing numerous electronic (both digital and analog) components. Troubleshoots repairs, adjusts and aligns down-sized powered support equipment. Corrects unusual maintenance problems, by interpreting a variety of technical data such as tables, charts, formulas, color codes, wiring diagrams, and schematic symbols. Analyzes circuits and circuit relationships, applies electronics principles in order to fault-isolate and repair the various digital devices contained in complex powered support equipment. Performs inspections, preventive maintenance, servicing, repair, and adjustments on complex rotary diesel engines. Conducts inspections, preventive maintenance, servicing, repair, and adjustments on complex rotary diesel engines. Conducts classes to train non-maintenance personnel in operations, test procedures, and troubleshooting requirements of complex powered support equipment. Performs intermediate-level maintenance on powered support equipment and non-powered Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE). Troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, modifies and operates aerospace ground equipment such as Alternating and Direct Current (AC/DC) power generators, various types of internal combustion engines, air compressors, blowers, hydraulic test stands, cabin leakage testers, portable diesel engine driven generators, Emergency Airfield Lighting System (EALS), de-icers, heaters, load, banks, hydrostatic testers, cryogenics engines, decontamination units, thermal bath, vacuum pumps, flow meters, air conditioners and various pieces of non-powered AGE. Performs maintenance data collection, and prepares other required forms. Implements the Squadron Environmental Program and Air Force Occupational Safety and Health Program (AFOSH) within the electrical and power production sections. Equipment custodian for electrical and power production sections. Assists electrical and power production in the various phases of installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair. Maintains proficiency for the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of Aircraft Arresting Systems and EALS. Performs other duties as assigned.
-Individual(s) nominated must successfully complete a baseline initial employment physical examination in accordance with 5 CFR, Part 339 and Technician Personnel Regulation TPR 335.

GENERALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Applicant must indicate 18 months of specialized experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories. Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES: Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements will be further evaluated by the nominating supervisor based on the following competencies considered essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
-Knowledge of the mechanical and electrical operation of powered support equipment.
-Knowledge of compliance programs, ie. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
-Knowledge of recruiting/retention and Professional Military Education (PME) programs.
-Skill in oral and written communications.
-Ability to research and interpret Federal and state regulations and to read and interpret specifications and drawings to plan and direct comprehensive programs for the operation, maintenance, repair, and improvement of government facilities for the ANG wing/unit/REDHORSE and other supported organizations.
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
