MAJOR DUTIES: They will perform common clerical duties such as typing, filing, mail duties, scheduling, answering the telephone and billing. They will prepare correspondence and reports from draft to final format. The incumbent will use various computer software programs to produce documents and support office operation. They will interpret and apply payroll and travel regulations. They will complete time cards. The incumbent will operate a motor vehicle to run errands as needed, picking up supplies and delivering people to and from work sites.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is mostly sedentary for long periods of time, and requires some walking, crouching and light lifting. Will operate a motor vehicle.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is conducted within an office environment.
AREA INFORMATION/HOUSING INFORMATION: Acadia National Park protects a landscape of rare scenic beauty. Acadia's mountains are the highest rocky headlands on the Atlantic shore of the United States, and the vista from these mountaintops encompass forested woodlands, shimmering lakes, quiet marshes, bold rocky shores, and coastal islands. Surrounding the park on all sides, the ocean strongly influences the park's character. Visitation exceeds two million visitors annually, with the highest visitation occurring in July and August.
Requirements
1. National Park Service (NPS) uniformed position. Employee will be required to wear a uniform and comply with NPS uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided to defray the cost of the uniform.
2. You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties. Prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year thereafter (or more frequently if management determines such need exists), you will be required to sign an affidavit certifying to your possession of a valid state issued drivers license that is current and has not been revoked, suspended, canceled, or otherwise disqualified in any way to prohibit your operation of a motor vehicle.
3. Under the Requirements of the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12), all new Federal employees, must have a background investigation. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.
4. Park Housing may be available in the area of Bar Harbor, Maine only. There is no government housing for the Winter Harbor, Maine position.

You have successfully completed two years of education above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time undergraduate academic study is defined as 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.
