ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-09) or equivalent. Specialized experience must include knowledge of a wide range of duties in library research and referral to evaluate, select, and adapt precedents to meet specialized information requirements. This knowledge is used to locate information from a wide variety of published and unpublished sources and electronic databases. Knowledge of foreign language and/or specialized subject field may be required to locate information. Must also possess proficiency to make authoritative recommendations on collection development and source selection, to instruct clientele in how best to make use of library resources, and provide training in end-users search systems. Thorough knowledge of all aspects of library principles, concepts, methodology, operations and management to accomplish assigned library functions.

with both library staff and customers.
Professional knowledge of all aspects of library principles, concepts,
methodology, operations and functions to perform the professional duties of
this position.
2. Ability to communicate orally and in
writing to resolve a variety of information access problems and to convey to
customers the full scope of library resources available.
3. Knowledge of the policies procedures,
systems, and interrelationships of the library, its databases, other data
sources, and the customer served.
4. Skill in one or more major functional
areas of library science, to include knowledge of multi-information sources and
access points and electronic information access, development, and dissemination
is highly desirable.
5. Knowledge of specific subject-matter
field, specialized subject or field of endeavor related to the mission of the
serviced organization. Knowledge of
online database searching and research techniques, and capabilities of
post-processing to meet user requirements.
Knowledge and skill in utilizing computer databases containing various
reference materials to which access is sought by customer.
6. Master's Degree in Library Science is
highly desirable.
