LOCATION: Fort Myer Business Operations and Community Recreation
This
is a Nonappropriated Fund Flexible (Flex) position that does not
include NAF Benefits nor guaranteed hours. Incumbents may be scheduled
to work 0-40 hours per administrative week. The position provides lifeguarding services at the Fort Myer Officer's Club Pool to age groups of infant to
adults. Incumbent will be
required to work weekends and holidays. May be required to work
before and after work. Multiple vacancies may be filled from this
announcement.

Serves as a lifeguard for Fort Myer Officer's Club outdoor pool and works under the direction of the Aquatics Manager. Performs life guarding duties and employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests. Responsible for life guarding guests in attendance at the pool. Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required. May assist in providing swim lessons. Attends aquatics and/or safety training as directed. Opens and closes facility. Keeps accurate records and adequate supplies. Assists with tracking inventory and ordering supplies. Assists in maintaining pool and area clean and free from any hazards. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures. Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules, and follows facility Standard Operating Procedures for disciplinary actions. Maintains daily logs and records as required.

Best Qualified: Lifeguard certification, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer issued by the American Red Cross.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL REQUIRED!
Highly Desirable: American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard or Ellis Lifeguard Instructor Certification; OR American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard or Ellis Water Safety Instructor Certification.
