This position is located at MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII, MCAS / MCB / KBAY, OAHU, KANEOHE BAY, HI - SEMPER FIT DIVISION, MCBH AQUATICS DIVISION. Candidates selected for this position will serve as a (FLEX) LIFEGUARD (SWIM INSTRUCTOR) NF2* for MCCS.

Conducts American Red Cross and Learn to Swim Programs for students including infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, adults, seniors, and physically and mentally challenged children and adults. Conducts swim qualification tests to patrons and issues certificates of completion. May also work with patrons who already know how to swim but want to improve their skills. May teach people the rescue techniques required to become lifeguards. Must remain alert and observe swimming area to ensure all water safety rules are observed by swimmers. Performs rescue work and renders first aid until a qualified doctor or emergency personnel are present. May operate a computer and receive money for fees and class registration. Determines patron eligibility. May be required to perform daily housekeeping tasks to ensure cleanliness, sanitation and appearance of pool and related facilities.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
EVALUATIONS:
Must have current certification in Water Safety Instruction or American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR for the professional rescuer and First Aid Training. Must be knowledgeable of emergency water safety procedures, policies, written instructions and directives. Must pass an annual swim test demonstrating ability to perform the work. National and state background checks are required for positions that involve working with youths.
