Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide a Research Engineer who will serve as technical staff member on a range of research programs in areas of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) for the Autonomy & Navigation Technology (ANT) Center. This position requires expertise in the area of navigation technology. The incumbent will work as part of a research team; assisting faculty in planning and accomplishing research projects.
NOTE: Initial appointment is under Schedule A appointing authority, Excepted Appointment Not-to-Exceed 366 days. At the time of the expiration of the initial appointment an employee who adequately demonstrates professional competence can be extended in increments of 1, 2 or 3 years or for an indefinite period. An initial appointment can be allowed to expire for an employee who does not adequately demonstrate professional competence. This is not a Tenure Track position; therefore academic tenure will not be granted. The appointment cannot be converted to a permanent tenure in the competitive service.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must possess an earned Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field is required. Knowledge of computer hardware/software design and programing practices to carry out educational and research project is also required. Previous experience (or related experience) in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver design and/or signal processing is highly desirable. Ability to communicate clearly and expertly (in English) in both verbal and written forms concerning academic, administrative, and technical subject matters is required.
