The Hunter Holmes McGuire Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center is seeking an Academic fellowship trained Thoracic/Cardiac Radiologist who can also perform General Radiology. Duties include reading MRI, CT, US, plain films and performing CT/US guided procedures. Responsibilities include teaching residents and performing research (publishing, grants and/or presentations). Incumbent will spearhead the Lung cancer screening program.
The department performs approximately 120,000 examinations per year and has 11 full and 5 part time faculty members. 6 VCU Radiology residents are present at the VAMC at all times. We currently have 2 GE MRIs (1.5T and 3 T), 1 Siemens MRI (1.5T wide bore) and 2 Toshiba CT scanners (64 and 320 slice). The CT section routinely performs low dose Chest CTs, Chest CTA's. Coronary CTA's and CT guided Microwave/RF ablations. In addition, the MR section is currently performing Cardiac MRI and MRA's. We are in the process of acquiring a third Dual Energy CT scanner. We also have ADW, Vitrea, TeraRecon and Dynacad workstations. Ultrasound equipment and PET-CT16 are also state-of-the art. VA Richmond provides a full-integrated electronic medical records system, fully digital Radiology Department, and active multidisciplinary collaboration with other departments. The successful candidate should be eligible for academic appointment at the Assistant/Associate Professor level at Virginia Commonwealth University.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical requirements of this position include lifting, prolonged standing and sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing, reaching (overhead, extensive/repetitive), repetitive motion and stooping. The mental/sensory requirements include recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, keyboarding, reading and logical thinking. The environment's pace can vary from steady to a sometimes fast pace requiring handling of multiple priorities, frequent, sometimes intense customer interactions, and the ability to adapt to frequent changes in a sometimes noisy environment. There may be the need to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to disease, illness and hazardous materials.
