The Director of Therapy Services is responsible for making and implementing administrative decisions directly affecting patient care and has the final line decision-making authority and supervisory responsibility for the Rehabilitation Care Service Clinical Specialty Program Managers/Supervisors. This position is located in the Rehabilitation Care Service Line, VA Puget Sound Health Care System - Seattle Division, Seattle, WA and reports directly to the Director of Rehabilitation Care Services.
The incumbent provides administrative and clinical oversight to RCS clinical affiliations with various universities within a number of clinical services. These clinical specialties include Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Recreational Therapy and Vocational Rehabilitation. These areas provide specialized clinical service to RCS specialty programs such as the Polytrauma Center, Multiple Sclerosis Center of Excellence, and Regional Amputee Center of Excellence. The fundamental responsibility of this position is to effectively use all available resources to provide the best possible patient care by planning, coordinating, and evaluating complex interdisciplinary service across the full continuum of care.
Duties include but are not limited to:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light Lifting (under 15 lbs); Light Carrying (under 15 lbs); Use of fingers; Walking (8 hours); Standing (8 hours); Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; Near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; Depth perception; Hearing (aid permitted); Mental and emotional stability.

The incumbent provides supervision of key clinical and training programs, including the overall technical oversight of the OTs whom they administratively supervise. Supervising OTs or Section Chiefs are responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures to address focused clinical needs and the overall services delivered and provided within the section. They demonstrate a great deal of autonomy in performing supervisory responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, assigning work to employees, monitoring workload and clinical volume, reviewing work of employees to assure accuracy and validity of submissions, assuring adequate clinical staffing, imposing disciplinary measures, and monitoring clinical privileges. They are required to provide overall clinical supervision that assures the proper coordination and delivery of care within the section and the facility at large. The full performance level of an occupational therapist in this position is GS-13
Physical Therapist, GS-0633-13
