Serves as an instrument person on the field survey crew.
Operates various types of survey instruments including but not limited to theodolites, levels, GPS units, electronic data collectors, measurement devices, personal computers, and hand held calculators.
Performs various types of surveys in support of the Yuma Area Office and the Lower Colorado Region goals.
Aids in performing all types of surveying tasks including preconstruction, construction, topographic, cadastral, hydrographic, geodetic, photogrammetric control.
Operates transits, GPS equipment, and other instruments on surveys along clear, accessible routes. Runs short traverse lines from known points along unobstructed routes. Runs level circuits between known elevation benchmarks following established or clearly designated routes, measures angles, distances, and differences in elevation between stations and know control points.

Working Conditions: Work requires long periods of standing, walking over rough, uneven surfaces; bending, crouching, stooping, recurring lifting of moderately heavy survey equipment; working in rock quarries; working in and around water conveyance structure, working in river backwaters; working in the winter and summer temperatures.

KSA 3. Knowledge of digital data collection, triangulation, intersection, slope-staking, crosssections, profiles, form checkouts, topographic mapping, map and specification interpretation, coordinate geometry, and horizontal and vertical control networks.
KSA 4. Highly proficient in basic plan reading (i.e., topographic surveys, boundary surveys, etc.).
KSA 5. Ability to maintain and troubleshoot problems with the survey team equipment and related software and hardware.
KSA 6. Ability to communicate effectively with other team members.
