The provider will be working in both the outpatient Mental Health Clinic and the inpatient psychiatric unit, which has ten beds. Approximately 50% of the provider's time will be in the Mental Health Clinic, providing outpatient care to Veterans with a variety of general mental health conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders and PTSD. Specific duties will include initial psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and crisis intervention. If the provider has specific training in a method of psychotherapy, that may be included in the duties. In the outpatient clinic, there will also be the need to perform approximately two history and physical examinations per week for Veterans entering the Compensated Work Therapy program. The other half of the provider's time will be spent monitoring and managing the general medical conditions of the Veterans on the inpatient psychiatric unit, and assisting the attending psychiatrist in providing mental health care to those Veterans. Specific duties will include performing admission history and physical examinations, ordering and monitoring lab tests as indicated, managing chronic medical conditions and minor acute conditions (UTI, etc.), and doing discharge summaries. The provider will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary treatment team on the unit.
Work Schedule: Day tour,Monday - Friday, with the possibility of some early morning or late afternoon hours.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Position requires moderate to heavy lifting and carrying, pushing, walking and standing for extended periods, ability for simultaneous rapid and mental and muscular coordination, near vision correctable at 13" to 16" Jaeger 1 to 4 (one eye, glasses permitted), ability to distinguish basic colors, emotional and mental stability; hearing aid permitted.
