As theCoordinator, Addiction Recovery Services/Substance Abuse Treatment Program (ARS/SATP) is responsible for the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, directing and evaluating the VAMC Chillicothe SATP, including the coordination of services available to patients treated within the program. This is an outpatient program designed to identify and rehabilitate veterans with substance abuse by providing counseling and a time-limited intensive treatment program.
He/She provides daily program direction to the Team and is responsible for making the Team fully aware of the complex, medical, rehabilitation, socio-economic, and psychological factors that must be considered in developing a comprehensive and viable rehabilitation program for the veteran with substance abuse. The complexity of problems presented by this population requires the highest level of professional skill and a source assessment in order to address and meet total health care and socio-economic needs. Both broad-based clinical skills and administrative skills are required to tailor a program for this clinically complex and professionally difficult patient.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work is primarily sedentary, although may require extreme patience in controlling ones emotions.The work may require using appropriate technique to physically restrain clients who present a danger to self or others.The work may also require assisting physically disabled clients and may include lifting them.
Preferred Experience: Board Certification is preferred. However, Board eligible candidates are encouraged to apply.

Education (1) Have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). The specialty area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed.
To qualify at the GS-11 level:
(a)Experience. None beyond the basic requirements.
(b) Assignment. Staff psychologists at this level diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological and/or neuropsychological assessments, treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities, and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders. They practice under the close supervision of a licensed psychologist.
To qualify at the GS-12 level:
(a) Experience In addition to the basic requirements at the GS-11 level, at least 1 year of experience as a professional psychologist equivalent to the next lower grade level. Individuals assigned as GS-12 psychologists may be in the process of obtaining licensure at the independent practice level. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSA's:
(b) Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Knowledge of, and ability to apply, a wide range of professional psychological theories and assessment methods to a variety of patient populations.
2. Ability to develop coherent treatment strategies.
3. Ability to incorporate new clinical procedures.
To qualify at the GS-13 level: In addition to the basic requirements 1 year experience as a Psychologist equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12. Examples of experience for this position include: assess and evaluate patient's mental health needs, perform a competency evaluation and/or neuropsychological examination, and provide end of life counseling and bereavement to families.
Licensure: Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia.
Experience: In addition to the experience requirements at the GS-12 level, at least 1 additional year of experience as a psychologist equivalent to the next lower grade level. In addition the candidate must demonstrate the following KSA's:
(c)Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Knowledge of, and ability to apply, advanced professional psychological theories and techniques to the full range of patient populations.
2. Ability to provide professional advice and consultation in areas related to professional
psychology and behavioral health.

a. Ability to provide supervision in areas related to behavioral health and social services provision in order to accomplish the organizational goals and objectives.

Education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. SOCIAL WORKER: GS-0185-12: $72,037 to $ 93,653 / Per Year
EducationMust have a master's degree in social work (MSW) from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work.
Licensure Must be licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level.
Experience Must have at least one year of professional social worker experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, and must fully meet the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) for that level.
