Successful completion of a 5-year program of study of at least 160 semester hours leading to a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture in an accredited college or university is qualifying for GS-7. OR
Combination of education and experience -- for each year short of graduation, the applicant must have had 1 year of experience under professional leadership and guidance of such character and diversity as to be a satisfactory substitute for the required education. This experience must have included original landscape design. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below.
Specialized Experience Requirement:For the GS-07
: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level; OR
one full year of graduate level education (18 semester hours); OR
an appropriate combination of graduate level education and specialized experience; OR

. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. NOTE:
For the 0807 Series successful completion of a 5-year program of study of at least 160 semester hours leading to a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture in an accredited college or university is qualifying for GS-7.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include two or more of the following
: Assisted with the development of interpretive sign designs and sketches, prepared and maintained unit signage, poster plans, and conducted graphic presentations. Monitored recreation resources program activities. Processed special use applications; Performed on-the-ground investigations of site suitability use inspections; Administered special use authorizations. Assured recreation sites and areas with one or two major uses are operated and maintained in accordance with operation and maintenance plans. Inspected recreation areas and areas of concentrated public use for compliance with management plans, public health, and safety.
Please note that Superior Academic Achievement can only be applied if you have graduated or completed (or expect to complete within 9 months) all the requirements for a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT:
If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
