    Responsibilities

    • Maintain and Expand Expertise; keeps up-to-date with latest technology trends and data analysis/science methods through appropriate training, education, and research.
    • Build Organization Advanced Analytics Capacity; identifies internal training needs regarding available data analysis/science methods, assets, tools, and analytics approaches, and provides authoritative advice to enhance efficiency and productivity of analytical staff.
    • Support Analytic Initiatives; leads or collaborates with appropriate staff in creating advanced analytic products, such as complex analyses and AI algorithms.
    • Advise and represent AIGMO; provides expert guidance and advice to AIGMO and OIG executive leadership on the most fruitful avenues of analytic inquiry and AI development.
    • Provide AI leadership; promotes adoption of AI and advanced analytic methods through partnership with program offices' leadership.
    • Assist OIG components on analytic products; provides highly skilled and authoritative expertise on analytic methods to all levels of OIG.

    Qualifications

    You must meet the basic education requirement and specialized experience to qualify for this position.

    Basic Education Requirement:

    Degree: Mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position; OR

    Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

    Specialized Experience Statement:

    GS-15: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector such as: developing, implementing, and applying statistical methods and concepts to test hypotheses using advanced statistical programming software, identifying and assessing relevant data sources' validity and reliability to meet project needs; and producing studies or reports that employ state-of-the-art statistical and data analysis techniques.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    How You Will Be Evaluated

    You will be evaluated based on how well you meet the qualifications listed in this vacancy announcement. Your qualifications will be evaluated based on your application materials, the responses you provide on the application questionnaire, and the result of the online assessment required for this position (if you are determined qualified after initial review). You will be assessed on the following competencies:

    Your application will be evaluated under the Category Rating method based on your responses to the assessment questions. You will receive a score based on the responses to the assessment questions. If, after reviewing your resume and or supporting documentation, a determination is made that you have inflated your qualifications and or experience your score can and will be adjusted to more accurately reflect your abilities.     Candidates eligible for veterans preference will be placed ahead of other candidates in the appropriate category for which they have been rated. Additionally, preference eligibles who have a compensable service-connected disability of at least 10 percent and who meet Minimum Qualification Requirements will automatically be placed in the Best Qualified Category.

    In addition to the application and Occupational Questionnaire, this position requires submission of an Talent Plus Online Assessment by all candidates determined to be qualified. The online assessment measures critical general competencies required to perform the job.
