As a Social Science Research Analyst, GS-0101-13, you will analyze issues and perform quantitative analysis related to potential fraud, waste, and abuse associated with the administration of CMS mission programs.
- Serve as a recognized expert within the organizational unit on the conduct of independent research.
- Coordinate with policy and program personnel, data analytics stakeholders within and outside of CMS.
- Plan potential summative research tasks to measure phenomena associated with the evaluation of completed projects or ongoing initiatives.
- Lead in the development of clearly written and concise issue papers and talking points.
- Conduct horizon scanning and literature reviews in the professional field of study.
- Develop procurement support materials, such as acquisition plans, procurement strategies, cost estimates, statement of work, and schedules of deliverables.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel up to 5% for this position.

In order to qualify for the GS-13, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
1. Coordinating health services or health economics research projects (e.g. healthcare pricing and reimbursement; access to care; healthcare demand; healthcare quality; healthcare fraud, waste, and abuse; or health system performance);
2. Drafting health care related presentations, papers, or reports from research findings for management's review; AND
3. Interpreting data tabulations or graphs to identify critical factors (e.g., data limitations, biases, sampling errors, inconsistencies).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
