    This position is located in the Programming Directorate, Latin America Division. The incumbent serves as a Senior Editor for the Spanish Service.

    Responsibilities

    Duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Planning, writing, producing and directing the development of original feature materials on a variety of subjects for radio, TV, and/or Internet programming and program packages in the Spanish language.
    • Editing audio, text and video content that meets the editorial standards of the Voice of America.
    • Creating content that is of the highest quality in terms of content and production values.
    • Maintaining contacts with targeted area specialists, discussing issues and ideas pertinent to multimedia program development.
    • Planning, editing and executing coverage of events, special series and special programming for the target region.
    • Leading a team of journalists for special coverage and special events.

    Qualifications

    Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12), which is directly related to this line of work.

    Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

    Specialized experience is the following and gained in the broadcasting field: planning and directing the development of radio, television, and internet programming and program packages in the Spanish language; writing highly targeted program materials and original scripts for broadcast; communicating political, cultural, and economic developments that contribute to the quality of the content of broadcasts; managing a team to cover events; and editing radio and television scripts and materials to ensure accuracy for tone, balance and policy conformance.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    1. If you are an eligible Inter agency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) applicant you may apply for special selection over other candidates for this position. To be well-qualified and exercise selection priority for this vacancy, displaced Federal employees must be rated at 85 or above on the rating criteria for this position.
